A variety of snowmobile events are scheduled to keep area riders busy until the snow flies.
A free practice day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. Races are open to kitty kat drivers and any trail sleds.
The Brainerd Snodeos will conduct their sixth annual Grass Drag and Swap meet at the Crow Wing County Fair Grounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4. This will be a sanctioned points race on the SDSDRA circuit.
The race is open to all participants. Vintage and antique racers are encouraged to participate. Non-point races are available for trail sleds.
The cost to attend is $10 per person, $5 for Minnesota USA members. This is a fundraiser for snowmobile trail maintenance in the lakes area.
The Gull Lake Drifters will have their annual snowmobile club open house from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 5. The event will be held at their Nisswa clubhouse located one block south of the Dairy Queen next to Dick Parks Gas. The open house will include free brats, hot-dogs and pop. Families are invited to learn more about what makes Brainerd lakes snowmobile trails possible. Groomer rides will also be available.
Area snowmobile trails are maintained by local snowmobile clubs who depend on donations from businesses like the Silver Riders Club members.
