GRAND RAPIDS - Class 1A's second-ranked girl, Naomi Landecker, finished more than a minute ahead of the second-place girl to lead the Staples-Motley Cardinals to first and Class 1A's top-ranked boy, Clayton Foster, won by 22 seconds to lead Pequot Lakes to victory in the Grand Rapids Class 1A Invite Tuesday.
Foster finished in 16:36 to defend his title from last year. Teammates Silas Lydeen placed fourth and Jacob Headley sixth to help Pequot top second-place Staples-Motley by 20 points.
S-M's Jordan Bendson finished second and Gunner Johnson was third.
Landecker won in 15:07 to defend her individual title from last year, too. Emma Pogreba placed second, Natasha Wenzel third, Emily Fuhrman was sixth and Kaytlin Roth eight to help the Cardinals win by 26 points over second-place Crosby-Ironton. Pequot Lakes finished third.
C-I's Christina Mapson placed fourth followed by Lisa Borden in fifth, Stacey Gustafson in seventh and Kristine Gustafson in 10th.
