Ruth Gmeinder, a 20-year member of the Brainerd School Board, turned in her resignation Wednesday afternoon to board chair Reed Campbell.
In her resignation letter, Gmeinder said she felt a "fiduciary responsibility to the citizens of the Brainerd School District who elected me and I can no longer remain in this capacity because of my lack of confidence in the business manager."
Gmeinder had three years left of her term. Board members will now have to appoint another member to the school board for a one-year term.
Superintendent Steve Razidlo and Steve Dickinson, director of business services for the district, were unavailable for comment Wednesday afternoon but their reaction - and reaction from board members - will be published in Thursday's Dispatch.
