Pierz punishes BBE

BELGRADE -- Nathan Janson returned consecutive punts for touchdowns and Class 2A's top-ranked Pierz Pioneers routed Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 64-0 in a Central Minnesota Conference mismatch Friday.

Bryan Virnig scored three times and totaled 106 yards on just eight carries.

Pierz quarterback Mike Pohlkamp was 6-of-9 for 77 yards and two scores as the Pioneers tallied 34 points in the first quarter alone.

Scott Herold had an interception for the second straight game and Kyle Girtz led a Pierz defense that allowed just 190 yards of total offense with 12 tackles.
