Kerry's a despicable liar
A recent letter writer told me to "look at Kerry's testimony for yourself." So I did. What I found is that the C-span.org site suggested by the writer doesn't work. Fortunately, there are plenty of other sites that do contain the complete transcript of J. "F." Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony. Something else I found is that this committee, chaired by Senator Fulbright, sat in gullible awe while Kerry defamed his country and his countrymen with "stories" he had heard about how US servicemen had "personally (as opposed to impersonally) raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, blown up bodies" and so on.
At no time in that hearing did Fulbright, or any other senator, ask Kerry if he had personally (as opposed to impersonally) witnessed any of these atrocities. And if he had witnessed any of these could he please advise what actions he took or could he please provide copies of his reports to his superior officers.
Readers of this fine newspaper should be aware that US News & World Report won't tell them that Kerry's first purple heart was awarded because Kerry was "wounded" by a piece of shrapnel less than two centimeters in diameter. Nor will USNW tell them that the shrapnel came from an M-79 rocket launcher fired by Kerry himself, from an unsafe distance, at some guys that had never fired at Kerry and that were, in fact, running away from him. The other two medals have a peculiar odor to them too. Three purple hearts without a day in the hospital -- amazing.
Readers of this fine newspaper should do as suggested by the fine recent letter writer and read Kerry's 1971 slander of his fellow Americans. They should then go to http.//kerry-04.org to learn a little of the truth about this most despicable liar.

National security threats
Campaigning in Iowa recently, candidate Cheney claimed that if John Kerry was elected, America would be hit by a terrorist attack. In case Cheney missed it from his undisclosed bunker, we already were hit -- on the Bush/Cheney watch. The attack occurred despite repeated warnings from numerous foreign governments, outgoing President Clinton and our own intelligence service. The latter information was summarized in the presidential daily briefing entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the United States" which reported terrorist preparations for airline hijackings, Al-Qaeda casing buildings in New York and striking the nation's capital. The current administration chose to ignore the warnings and downgrade terrorism to low priority. They were negligent if not complicit in the events of 9/11.
The invasion and occupation of Iraq (for what reason again?) has ensured the ongoing enmity of millions and has increased the number of terrorists worldwide.
Al Qaeda has grown from a relatively contained threat in Afghanistan to a movement of international significance. Once again, by ignoring the real (now international) threat of Al Qaeda, but choosing to invade and occupy a nation rich in oil and offering geopolitical advantage instead, the current administration continues to put our nation at unnecessary risk.
The invasion of Iraq is in keeping with the Neo-Con's vision of global domination via militarization, outlined in "The Project for the New American Century" which, by the way, called for "some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor."
The real threat to National Security are Bush, Cheney and the madmen who surround them.
Time to lose Bush
Americans have lost their lives, their jobs, their health care, their savings and their privacy. It's time to lose George Bush.
