Fall color progressing across state

Posted: Wednesday, September 17, 2003

In general, fall color is progressing throughout the entire state of Minnesota, with the prairie grasses and fall wildflowers near peak fall color.

At Father Hennepin State Park in Isle, approximately 10-15 percent of the trees have changed color, consisting of yellow birch and basswood, and yellow, red and orange maples.

The fall wildflowers are beginning to fade.

Normally, fall color reaches peak from late September to early October, however dry conditions may cause peak fall color to arrive earlier than usual.
