Brainerd girls defeat Sartell for first time

SARTELL -- Brainerd senior goaltender Becka Gellert guided the Warriors to their first-ever win over the Sartell Sabres by a 2-0 score in Central Lakes Conference girls' soccer Tuesday.

It was the Warriors' first victory in 12 games against the Sabres.

Gellert had eight saves. With a conference record of 5-2, the Warriors are now in second place.

The Warriors got things started 26 minutes into the first half with a goal by Danielle Uphoff on a pass from Taylor Hartje.

Ten minutes later, Brainerd's Beth Sexton added another goal to give the Warriors the 2-0 margin of victory.
