PILLAGER -- An officer from the Bloomington Police Department will visit Pillager High School at 5:30 p.m. Friday to present a program to parents of middle school and high school students titled, "Drugs, Sex and Raves: What's Turning on Your Kids When the Lights Go Out?"
He will tell parents what to look for and how to be proactive in dealing with these issues.
The program will take place in the high school media center and is free of charge. The presentation will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. A time for questions and answers will follow.
Fall Family Fitness Day set Saturday in Crosby
CROSBY -- The Hallett Community Center in Crosby will be the site of the Fall Family Fitness Day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Free for all ages, the 5K Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. There will be demonstrations on the stability ball, yoga and pilates. Relay races will be offered for children, as well as open swim and use of the water slide.
'Take Back the Night' to occur in Aitkin County
AITKIN -- The second annual "Take Back the Night" in Aitkin County will be Oct. 2.
This event includes a rally and march to unite communities against violence. The gathering and presentation will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Calvary Westside Building, 810 Second St. N.W., Aitkin. The candlelight march will go to the Aitkin County Courthouse, where the closing ceremony will be held. There will be refreshments, information tables and T-shirts for sale at both locations.

Region 5 Commission to meet Sept. 25

Drunken Stars Quilt
This easy beginning class for learning the technique of "fuzzy" edge appliqu and basic rotary cutting will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Farm Quilt Haus, 11862 261st Ave.
Cost is $35 and includes the pattern.
Infant Toddler Training Intensive
Learn appropriate ways to set limits and guide the development of infants' and toddlers' social skills from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Motley Middle School library.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss appropriate and inappropriate guidance and discipline strategies.

Basic Dog Training
This course will help people train their dog, and make their dog a better family pet. It will run 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 2-Nov. 20, at the Staples Community Center.
Dogs must have all their shots up to date, including rabies and parvovirus. Bring a copy of shot records to class, as well as a 6-foot leather and chain training collar.
Cost is $42 for this eight-week course. Pre-registration is required.
Learn how to safely protect photos for future family and friends using rubber stamps, paper craft and embellishments from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Room 100 at Staples Motley High School. Cost is $7.
Lone Star Quilt
Design a 45-inch square suitable for a baby quilt, wall hanging or tree skirt with Sandy Bessingpas from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Farm Quilt Haus, 11862 261st Ave., Staples.
This class is designed for experienced quilters who wish to learn the art of piecing diamonds. Lunch will be provided. Cost is $30 plus pattern and fabric.
