WALKER -- The Cass County Board turned down quotes Tuesday received from two contractors to re-roof and remove skylights from the front overhang of the Pine River Community Resources Center.
Instead, commissioners authorized up to $2,000 in materials and directed the county building and grounds department to have the sentence to serve crew remove the skylights and cover the remaining opening with plywood and roofing.
The main concern is to remove the source for water leakage into the center.
The board also authorized the building and grounds department to spend up to $33,895 to replace the nearly 30-year-old air conditioning system in the courthouse annex this fall on the condition the warranty will run from next spring's start-up time.
Only one vendor's equipment is compatible with the current system.
Also authorized was $6,742 to install a single compressor and air conditioning system for the two primary computer system areas for the courthouse. Two or three quotes for that system will be required before a vendor is selected.
