Drake Beyer, a 2009 Pequot Lakes graduate, qualified to play on the St. John's University men's golf team for the 2009-2010 season.
The Johnnies are ranked 10th nationally by the Golf World Division III preseason poll released in September.
St. John has qualified for 10 consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III Championships and finished in the top 10 in eight of those appearances, including winning back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008.

The Johnnies will defend their conference title, the fifth in the past six seasons, at the 2009 MIAC Championship Oct. 3-5 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.
Bell debuts
Redshirt freshman Robert Bell, a Pierz High School graduate, shot a three-round 221 to place 20th and help the University of Minnesota men's golf team to third in the fifth annual Gopher Invitational at Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata. Bell, playing in his first collegiate event, shot rounds of 75-70-76 to finish 5-over.
Chip in for the Cure

Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge will be the site of the Chip in for Cancer golf tournament 11:45 a.m. Oct. 4 on the Lakes Course.
Entry for the scramble is $65 per player and includes 18 holes, cart and lunch.

Bob McGinty, Golden Valley, aced the 135-yard third hole of Alec's Nine at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge using a pitching wedge.
Richard Kreider, Rockford, aced the 135-yard 15th hole of the Lakes Course at Ruttger's Sept. 10 using a 9-iron.
Bob McKee, Pequot Lakes, aced the 155-yard fourth hole of Whitefish Golf Club Sept. 8 using a 23-degree hybrid.
Dan Ryan, Brainerd, 139-yard 15th of Dutch's Course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's Sept. 7 using an 8-iron.
Doc McCoy, Carroll, Iowa, aced the 161-yard seventh hole of Bobby's Course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's Sept. 10 using a 7-iron.
