Unbeaten Warriors dispatch Apollo

The Brainerd girls' tennis team did not drop a set in all three of its doubles matches as the Warriors handed Central Lake Conference opponent St. Cloud Apollo a 6-1 loss Tuesday.

Zoe Houle and Kayla Kraemer, at No. 1 doubles, won their match 6-2, 6-0. Sam Kletscher and Courtney Tusler, at No. 2, and Kathryn Chandler and Katie Southard, at No. 3, also won their matches in straight sets.

At No. 1 singles Taylor Headlee dropped only two games on her way to a 6-2, 6-0 victory.

Mikinzee Salo won at No. 2 singles and Briana Rademacher triumphed at No. 4.

The win brings Brainerd's record to 4-0 overall and in CLC play as it prepares to go on the road Thursday to face the Willmar Cardinals.

"We have to stay on top of our game," Warriors coach Ellen Fussy said. "Overall, it is our goal to drop as few games as possible as a team over the course of a match. We need to continue to play up to our level and not fall into playing down to our opponent's level, and so far this season we've done a good job of that.

"With Willmar on the road Thursday we should have a pretty good match on our hands. We just need to keep our focus and keep playing good tennis."
