First half champion Brainerd Dispatch edged Viking Coca Cola, second half champs, 7-5 in an 18-hole playoff to win the Men's Twilight League championship. Emmet Brennan shot 75 for low round, Leo Marchel had a 76, while Mike Gardner shot a 79 for Coke.

Zion Lutheran won the 1949 Brainerd Church Softball league championship by defeating South Long lake Presbyterian 10-9 in one of the most thrilling games of the season. A single by Engel in the bottom of the seventh drove in Eschenbacher to break the tie.

Nimrods fell into line today at the county auditor's office to get their small game licenses for the opening of duck season tomorrow. Hunters will be allowed 12 ducks per day, 36 ducks in possession and a total of 120 ducks for the season.

J.E. Stevens returned a few days ago from Hot Springs, Ark., where he has been taking the baths for his rheumatism. He is feeling much better than when he went there.
