AITKIN -- Janette Ida Carlson, 85, Aitkin, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born Jan. 2, 1917, in London, Ontario, to Fred and Christina (Stire) Dearing. She attended schools in the Staffa Area of Ontario. She returned to London, Ontario, and worked for a time. She moved to Minneapolis in the early 1940s. She married Axel O. Carlson on April 24, 1948. They lived in Minneapolis and began coming to their cabin in the Aitkin area in the early 1960s. After her husband's death in 1967, she moved to Aitkin in 1968. She worked for the Aitkin Community Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1990. She had made her home at the Aicota Health Care Center for the past year.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Carlson, Aitkin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marshall Dearing, Exeter, Ontario, Canada, and Gerald Fitzgerald, Stratford, Ontario, Canada; and a sister, Margaret Boulton, Mount Forest, Ontario, Canada.
Her husband, and two brothers, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with the Rev. Dallas Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Spencer Cemetery.
Friends may call an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
