20 years ago (1989)

Colin Hall's dreams of a bus factory have come full circle. The Winnipeg promoter, whose Brainerd International Trade Centre plans collapsed last year, is trying to get the city of Morris, Manitoba to co-sign an $850,000 loan to reopen a bus plant there.

30 years ago (1979)

Walk into any girls' lavatory at the senior high school at various times of the day and you are greeted by dense clouds of cigarette smoke. The latest weapon to combat this is the possibility of repeat offenders being sent to court, now being debated in St. Paul.

40 years ago (1969)

The two men captured by R.L. Parks as they tried to rob his Nisswa Garage started their crime spree by cracking a safe in Jacksonville, Fla. and stealing $300. They then stole 15 cars in succession, another one after each ran out of gas, on their way to Nisswa.

100 years ago (1909)

(Adv.) The Sanitary Feather Mattress Co., of St. Paul, which has been in the city the past six weeks washing feather beds and pillows, and remodeling mattresses, will continue their business for the next ten days at half price.
