Leaving Brainerd

Posted: Tuesday, September 15, 2009

After a weekend layover in Brainerd for repairs, the crew of the 32-foot wooden York boat rowed under the Washington Street Bridge in Brainerd on Monday afternoon. The boat, similar to those used in the 1800s by the Hudson Bay Trading Co., was built recently in Canada for the Old Man River Project. The crew will paddle and sail the boat the length of the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana totally self contained. More information is available online at www.oldmanriverproject.org.
