The Aitkin County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting deaths of three people whose bodies were found around a campfire early Saturday morning in Shamrock Township, about nine miles north of McGregor.
Deputies responded about 1:40 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call from a neighbor who reported two people had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies found three victims, two men and a woman, near a campfire outside of the residence. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
Sheriff Scott Turner would not say if the suspect was one of the three victims but did say deputies were not looking for anybody else in connection with the shooting deaths. Turner also said it was believed no one else was present at the campfire when the shooting took place
The names of the victims have not been released. Turner said more information would be available Monday after autopsy results had been returned from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting.
