The 10th annual Kids Day America/International, a health, safety and environmental awareness day, is set from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Nisswa Elementary School gymnasium.
The event is sponsored by WellnessOne of Nisswa.
Essential information on crime prevention, child safety and environmental awareness will be provided. WellnessOne will donate a special child identification card to each child who attends and the Nisswa Police Department will be on hand to provide free fingerprinting of all children.
McGruff the Crime Dog and clowns will entertain. The fire department will bring its fire truck and teach fire safety tips to children. Entertainment, prize drawings and refreshments are planned.
Derrek Johnson and Brian Schmitz, chiropractors, will provide free spinal exams and scoliosis screenings and distribute vital information on disease prevention and specific health issues that affect children.
Detour in Little Falls to start Monday
A four-day detour is planned for Highway 27 between Paul Larson Memorial Drive and Second Street Northwest near downtown Little Falls beginning at about 9 a.m. Monday.
Crews from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will be working on the Highway 27 railroad crossing at Paul Larson Memorial Drive to replace the crossing surface between the tracks.
A detour for through traffic will be in effect 24 hours a day via Paul Larson Memorial Drive, Ninth Avenue Northwest and Second Street Northwest. The work is expected to be complete on Sept. 23.
