Pierz, Staples-Motley win tourney titles

OGILVIE - Kelsey Meyer compiled 92 set assists, 36 digs and 16 kills and Miranda Przybilla added 48 digs in five matches as Pierz went 5-0 and captured its fourth consecutive Ogilvie Lions Invite title Saturday.

In pool play the Pioneers defeated Rush City, Milaca and Aitkin.

In the semifinals Pierz defeated Cromwell 27-25, 22-25, 15-7 before taking down Rush City again in the finals 25-22, 25-16.

Sammi Lucking ended the tournament with 41 kills and 16 blocks while Lindsay Monson collected 18 kills, 10 blocks and 10 digs.

Hannah Groves also tallied 27 digs and 14 kills for Pierz.

Aitkin finished sixth, going 1-4 on the day.

Kelly Pearson added 10 kills and Ashley Miles had 34 set assists for the Cardinals.

Jana Anderson and Sienna Miller each had 10 kills as the Crosby-Ironton Rangers went 1-2 in the event.
