ONAMIA -- A workshop focusing on shoreland landscaping will run 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Rolf Olsen Center in Onamia.
Officials from the University of Minnesota Extension Service and the Mille Lacs County Planning and Zoning office will share information that will provide participants with the tools they need to begin developing their own site plan. The basics of what shoreland landscaping is, how it can benefit lake and property, and how to develop a plan for your site will be featured topics.
Workshop cost is $10. This covers all handouts and resources, snacks and lunch. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Mille Lacs County Soil and Water Conservation District.
This program is offered through the cooperative efforts of the Mille Lacs and Aitkin County SWCDs, Hayland Woods Native Nursery, the University of Minnesota Extension Service, the Mille Lacs Lake Watershed Management Group, and the Mille Lacs Lake Association. Funding is provided through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Shoreland Habitat Program.
