Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center offers the following programs. Cost is $5 for the public and $4 for members unless stated otherwise. Cost to become a member is $15 for individuals or $25 for families.
* Preschool Nature Time, 10 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. This program will teach children ages 3-6 about nature with hands-on learning opportunities both inside and outside.
* Naturalist Guided Hikes, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 3-4:30 p.m. Saturdays. A naturalist will lead a hike on the trails for all ages.
* Family Nite Fridays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Fridays. This event will include a presentation, activities and games for families.
* Projects for Wildlife, 1-2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Cost is $10 per project, $8 per project for members. Participants will build easy-to-make houses and feeders for wildlife. Each week will feature a different project.
* After-school Programs for Kids, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Mondays. Make fall leaf crafts and pictures.
* Nature Observers Club, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursdays.
* Friday Craft-o-rama, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays. Enjoy a new and different nature craft each week.
The center's 4-H Club, the Bobcats, for kindergartners-12-graders will meet 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13.
The center offers the following adult education programs.
* Exploring Silviculture: an Ecosystem Management Tool, 11 a.m.-noon or 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 26, Oct. 3, 10 and 17. Explore successful tree growth.
Cost is $5, or $4 for members. Call to pre-register.
* Nature Trails: Design, Layout and Development, 1-3 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 26, Oct. 3 and 10. Classroom and fieldwork will cover trail development in this class for students, landowners, parks employees and volunteers. Written materials will be provided.
Cost is $15, or $12 for members. Call to pre-register.
* Wildlife Habitat Management, Wednesdays, Sept. 28-Oct. 26. Learn how to manage land to maximize desired species. Species subjects will include deer, grouse, woodcock, non-game birds, etc.
Cost is $5, or $4 for members. Call to pre-register.
* Dendrology, Tree and Shrub Identification, 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 28-Oct. 26. Learn to identify native tree species using leaves, twigs and buds. Materials will be provided.
Cost is $5, or $4 for members.
Visit the nature center 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays. Trails and picnic area are are open sunrise to sunset.
