Alexandria defeated the Brainerd Warriors 4-3 in Central Lakes Conference tennis Thursday.
The fact the Warriors lost was not important. What was significant was that Brainerd played after having Tuesday's meet against Sartell postponed because of the terrorist attacks in Washington, D.C., New York City and Pennsylvania.
The fact the meet was played may help accelerate the country's healing process after the catastrophes.
"I think the entire school has been pretty subdued," Warriors coach Bruce Thompson said. "Everyone is aware of the seriousness of the situation. I think it has played into all of our minds, to what degree I'm not sure. It certainly is a stressful situation."
The Warriors' scored their three points in singles matches. Megan Whalen won at No. 1, Megan Steiger at No. 2 and Heidi Johnson at No. 4.
