Robert and Mary Jacobs, son and daughter-in-law of Sherri and Terry Larson, Brainerd, and Robert and Yvonne Jacobs, Nisswa, plan to spend the next year living in London and traveling throughout Europe.
Robert recently graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J., with a master of divinity degree. He was awarded the Parish Pulpit Fellowship from Princeton Seminary. He will spend the next year studying preaching at Spurgeon's College in London.
While in Princeton, Mary worked as a marketing manager for Elan Corp., a pharmaceutical company specializing in drug delivery systems.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church
There will be a Cursillo Ultreya from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. There will be a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the death of Bishop Whipple, founder of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota, on Sunday. There will also be two baptisms. There is no Eucharist at noon Wednesday because the Rev. Glenn Derby will be at a Diocesan Clergy Conference in Buffalo from Monday through Wednesday. Prayer Line will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and the Vestry will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
St. Michael's Church bazaar
St. Michael's Church of Buckman will have its annual bazaar Sunday. The polka mass will start at 10 a.m. followed by a chicken and ham dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with all the trimmings, including homemade coffee cakes and pies. Other events include live music, bingo, quilt wheel, grand raffle, children's games and more.
Service of prayer, hope, remembrance
Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake will observe a service of prayer, hope and remembrance at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in light of the tragic terrorist attacks. Tim Glendening to speak
Nationally known Christian speaker Tim Glendening, on behalf of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ord, Neb., will present "Out of the Darkness," a program of words and music about surviving clinical depression at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Pine River. "Out of the Darkness" is a ministry designed to help inform and educate the public about the disease of depression, as well as offer words of help and hope to those who struggle with life.
Franciscan Sisters host spaghetti supper
A spaghetti supper will be the kickoff event for a fund-raising campaign for pool repair at the St. Francis Health and Rec Center in Little Falls. The Franciscan Sisters will host this supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Sept. 22 at St. Francis Convent in Little Falls. Light of the Lakes Methodist Church
Light of the Lakes Methodist Church will celebrate Rally Sunday this week. The church welcomes two new ministers to the area, Duane Grage and Bob Hoeft.
