BHS class of 1993 reunion

NAMI meeting
NAMI-Brainerd Area (Local affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in Brainerd. The public is invited to attend any of these meetings. Arvilla Felten from Crow Wing County Health Department will be talking about "Mental Health Advance Directives" as it relates to the mentally ill.

Brainerd Area Retired Educators
The Brainerd Area Retired Educators will meet at noon Monday at the Cascade Methodist Church in Deerwood. Ben Bangert, a naturalist from the Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center, will be the speaker. His topic will be "Beavers" and he will bring various demonstration items. All retired teachers and administrators are invited to attend. Business meeting will follow the program. The next meeting will be Oct. 20 at the Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd.
Alpha Delta Kappa
Alpha Delta Kappa met recently at the Brainerd High School. Co-presidents Liz Aulie and Bonnie Cumberland led the meeting. New members and prospective members present were Jan Cummings, Robyn Schaefer and Becky Hansen. We preceded the meeting with a tree planting ceremony at Lincoln School in memory of deceased member Joyce Scheneker. The new booklets were distributed and explained. Yearly dues were paid to Laura Larson. Sherri Delahunt is the new international altruistic chairman. October is Alpha Delta Kappa month and plans are being made to celebrate our 40 years of excellence in the Brainerd area. Jennie Holden discussed the North Central Foundations Day luncheon to be held Sept. 27 at Central Lakes College. Sherri Delahunt will be emcee.

HART events set
Heartland Animal Rescue Team will have a dog ear benefit book fair on Saturday at Nordic Living in Nisswa. Help the animal shelter by dropping off your used books at either HART or Nordic Living by Wednesday. There will be HART animals present for adoption at the sale and there will also be doggie door prizes. For more information, call HART at 829-4141.
A wine dinner benefit, which will feature Kendall Jackson Wines, will be Sept. 25 at Nisswa Grille. The silent auction will be from 6-7:30 p.m. and dinner is at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are required and space is limited. Cost: $65 per person.
