HILLMAN -- Vernon E. Cronquist, age 68, of Hillman, Minn., died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sept. 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman with Pastor Cathie Rhodes and Pastor Harvey Peterson con-celebrating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Vernon E. Cronquist was born on Oct. 25, 1934, in Daggett Brook Township, Crow Wing County, to the late John Edward and Malinda (Klapel) Cronquist. He was united in marriage to Marie Stauffenecker on June 25, 1955, in Hillman, Minn. Vernon farmed, drove truck, owned and operated Cronquist Corners and bartended for various establishments. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Brainerd. Vern enjoyed four-wheeling, hunting and fishing and visiting with the public.
Survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie Cronquist of Hillman, Minn.; son Darrel Cronquist (Sheryl) of Brainerd, Minn.; daughters, LeeAnn Pulak (Randy) of Pierz, Minn., and Sandy Novak (David) of Gilman, Minn.; brothers, Delwyn Cronquist of Bertha, Minn., and Milan Cronquist (Marge) of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; sisters, Alvinia Kisor (Ralph) of Pierz, Minn., Janice Schubert (Eddie) of Pierz, Minn., and Beverly Schubert (Dave) of Brainerd, Minn.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary bearers were Vern's granddaughters Pennie Loidolt, Donna Seelen and Stacy Novak.
Casketbearers were Vern's grandsons Chad, Craig and Cory Cronquist, and Joe, Paul and Jake Pulak.
