PEQUOT LAKES -- Pequot Lakes Community Theatre and the Greater Lakes Performing Arts will hold auditions for their fall musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
The Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice smash hit musical, made famous by the singer/actor Donny Osmond, has an eclectic style of music ranging from country western to calypso to rock and roll.
Roles needed are:
20 young people (male and female) ages 10-15 to sing in the youth choir; 14 women ages 16-65; and 18-20 men ages 16-65.
Auditions for the youth choir only will be 6 to 9 p.m. today and Friday.
Auditions for adults only will be 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 20 and 21.
People may have to wait when they arrive to audition. Auditions will take approximately 10-20 minutes.
All who plan to audition should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song and be prepared to dance. People may bring sheet music of song for the accompanist, or bring a prerecorded audiocassette tape. (A cassette will be provided. No a cappella songs.) Bring a recent photo to attach to audition sheets. Photos may not be returned.
Rehearsals will be Monday-Friday, Sept. 24 through Nov. 8. Performances will be Nov. 9-11 and 16-18. Rehearsals will be generally from 7 to 10 p.m.; however, there may be times they end earlier. The entire cast will also need to be available the weekends of Oct. 12-14 and 26-28 for the choreographer.
Also needed are people willing to sew costumes, construct set or work on other technical aspects of the show. Those people willing to do any of these positions should also come to auditions to fill out a form.
This production will be directed by Beth Selinger and done with permission from The Rodgers and Hammerstein Theatre Library.
