Verndale dominates again

VERNDALE - Amos Schmidt pounded his way for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries as the Verndale Pirates ran over the Underwood Rockets for a 46-12 Pheasant Conference victory Friday.

Zack Meidinger had 19 carries for 149 yards and three touchdowns for the Pirates and Cody Yungbauer had 30 yards and one touchdown.

The Pirates chewed up 396 rushing yards.

John Koys, who finished with eight tackles, and the Pirate defense restricted the Rockets to just 68 rushing yards.

Schmidt, Meidinger and Matt Willis each finished with an interception.
