AITKIN - Motorists will encounter a detour on U.S.169/Minnesota Avenue in Aitkin beginning Tuesday as crews reconstruct the BNSF Railway crossing.
The railroad crossing will be closed to through traffic. Drivers traveling north on 169 will be directed right at First Street Southeast, left at Second Avenue Southeast, left at First Street Northeast and then right on Minnesota Avenue. Southbound traffic will be detoured left on First Street Northeast, right on Second Avenue Southeast, right on First Street Northeast and then left to Minnesota Avenue.
Highway 210 traffic will not be affected by this work.
The newly constructed track crossing surface will be open to traffic by Thursday weather permitting.
NARFE to meet
The Brainerd Chapter No. 738 National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet for social time at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Countryside Cafe in Motley. Business meeting will feature Louis Czech, taxidermy.
Crime Free Multi-Housing meeting planned
The next Crime Free Multi-Housing meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd Police Department.
There will be a panel discussion with the following five speakers: Julie Batters, Brainerd Public Utilities; Rick Fargo, president, Progressive Property Management; Kevin Goedker, Brainerd City Council member and president, Goedker Property Management; Bill Kronstedt, rental housing inspector, City of Brainerd; and Sgt. Joy Larson, Brainerd Police Department.
