SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The Minnesota man who was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Rep. Bill Janklow died of multiple injuries, his death certificate shows.
The official cause of death for Randy E. Scott, 55, of Hardwick, Minn., was "multi-system trauma," according the certificate signed by Dr. Tad Jacobs, the Moody County coroner.
Jacobs said Thursday that Scott suffered injuries to the central nervous system, the cardiovascular system and other areas.
"It is my opinion that he died instantly at the scene," Jacobs said.
Janklow faces second-degree manslaughter and other charges in the Aug. 16 crash near Trent. The former four-term governor is accused of failing to stop at a stop sign and going 71 mph in a 55 mph zone.
A preliminary hearing is set Sept. 25-26 in Moody County.
