Area primary election results listed

Aitkin County

More than 40 percent, or 3,972, of Aitkin County's 9,762 registered voters cast a ballot in Tuesday's primary election.

District 1 Commissioner -- Jon Olson and incumbent Merle "Murph" Peterson will face off in the Nov. 5 general election. Olson received nearly half of the vote, 431, and Peterson received 251 votes to Anthony Gabrio's 224 votes.

District 2 Commissioner -- Dale K. Lueck got about 40 percent of the vote, 388, and incumbent Dick Siemers about 34 percent, 331, to move onto the general election. Third-place finisher Robert "Bob" Miller Jr. received 240 votes.

District 3 Commissioner -- Paul Bailey received more than 56 percent of the vote, 343, and will move on to face Donald H. Niemi, who received 136 votes, in the general election. Third-place finisher Elaine S. Swingley had 83 votes and fourth-place finisher Robert Marcum had 42.

District 5 Commissioner -- Incumbent Mike Murphy received 266 votes and Jonathan E. "Reggie" Lee had 230 votes to move on to the general election. Finishing third with 164 votes was Richard "Dick" Ladd. In fourth was Jimmy Maxwell with 115 votes and in fifth was Charley Ruud with 42 votes.

Recorder -- Diane M. Lafferty, with 1,687 votes, and Judy Blomberg, with 984 votes, will vie for the county recorder position in the general election. Finishing in third place was Mark Larson, with 610 votes, and in fourth place was Andy Skaj, with 432 votes.

Morrison County

Almost 20 percent, or 3,548, of Morrison County's 17,938 registered voters cast a ballot in Tuesday's primary election.

District 5 Commissioner -- In the only primary election race in Morrison County, incumbent Bill Block walked away with more than half the vote, 670, and will face off against Roman Witucki, who received 443 votes, in the Nov. 5 general election. Third-place finisher Jeff Deering received 97 votes.

Todd County

In Todd County, 3,148 out of 13,469 registered voters, or about 23 percent, cast a ballot in Tuesday's primary election.

District 2 Commissioner -- Dale L. Meiners and Dale W. Greenwaldt, with 383 and 227 votes, will face each other in the Nov. 5 general election. Finishing in third place was Glenn Line, with 201 votes, followed by Dave Meierding with 90 votes and Leo C. Peterson with 24 votes.

District 4 Commissioner -- Incumbent Gary Feist is out of the general election as challengers Janet Goligowski, with 325 votes, and Bob Meagher, with 214 votes, advanced in Tuesday's primary election. Feist finished in third place with 160 votes, followed by Dale Gimbel with 131 votes, Gary Farber with 91 votes, Marvin W. Cole with 69 votes and George Santer with 53 votes.

Wadena County

More than 40 percent, 3,064 out of 7,537, of Wadena County's registered voters cast a ballot in Tuesday's primary election.

District 3 Commissioner -- Bill Stearns received 236 votes and Sharla R. Fillhouer 149 votes to move on to the Nov. 5 general election. Finishing in third and fourth place were Glenn St. Marie and Keith Milbradt, with 109 and 90 votes.

District 4 Commissioner -- Mary Harrison, with 434 votes, and incumbent Paul W. Nolte, with 232 votes, will face off in the general election. Third-place finisher Walter D. Schulz received 82 votes.

Auditor-Treasurer -- Char (Charleen M.) West received 1,153 votes and Jo E. Dooley 895 votes to move on to the general election. Betty A. White finished in third place with 703 votes.

Sheriff -- Incumbent Mike Carr, with 1,257 votes, received more than 40 percent of the vote and will face off in the general election against Robert B. (Bob) Swenson, who received 861 votes. Swenson narrowly edged fellow challenger Pete Resch, who had 848 votes.
