Brainerd bounces Rocori

COLD SPRING - Siri Smith won both the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly and Sarah Dens collected wins in the 200 IM and breaststroke to help the Brainerd Warriors to a 113-69 victory over the Rocori Spartans Thursday.

Alex Erickson won the 50 freestyle. Stephanie Hansen swam a first-place 5:49.40 in the 500 freestyle and Betsy Schuldheisz won the 100 backstroke.

Brainerd swept the top three positions in the diving competition to improve to 2-0 in the Central Lakes Conference and 3-0 overall.

"It was a tough week with it being the first week of school, a tough week of practice and the fact that Rocori is a young team," said Warrior head coach Dan Anderson. "We mixed up our lineup a little bit, but I thought Sarah Dens and Laura Goll had really nice times in the IM. Those are two girls that don't normally swim that event.

"I was pleased with Alex Erickson's winning time in the 50 free and Siri Smith had a good meet, too."
