Area school districts add up enrollment

Yellow school buses have now become a common sight on area roadways as area students returned to school last week.

While school district enrollment figures may fluctuate in the upcoming weeks, here's a look at school enrollment reported by area school districts:

Aitkin

1,299 students in prekindergarten through 12th-grade, a decrease of about 20 students from last fall.

Brainerd

7,076 students in prekindergarten through 12th-grade as of Monday, a five-student increase from this same time last year.

Crosby-Ironton

1,220 students in kindergarten through 12th-grade, a decrease of 32 students from last fall.

Crosslake Community School

105 students in kindergarten through eighth-grade, a slight decrease from last fall.

Emily Charter School

40 students in kindergarten through sixth-grade, an 11-student decrease from last year.

Family of Christ Lutheran School

65 students in prekindergarten through seventh-grade, a slight decrease from last fall.

Lake Region Christian School

198 students prekindergarten through 12th-grade, a 19 percent enrollment increase from last year.

Little Falls

2,561 students in prekindergarten through 12th-grade, an increase of about 120 students for what was projected in enrollment this fall. The district had projected a loss of 104 students this fall, due to continuing declining enrollment, but that didn't happen.

Oak Street Christian School

13 students in first- through eighth-grades, an increase of seven students from last year.

Pequot Lakes

1,613 students in kindergarten through 12th-grade, an increase of 43 students from last year.

Pierz

1,053 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, an increase of about 15 students from last year.

Pillager Area Charter School

43 students enrolled, about the same as last fall.

Pillager

775 students in kindergarten through 12th-grade, an increase of three students from last year.

Pine River-Backus

980 students in kindergarten through 12-grade, a decrease of about 20 students from last year.

Staples-Motley

1,412 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, an increase of about 46 students as reported last fall.

St. Francis of the Lakes

145 students in kindergarten through eighth-grade, an increase of about 10 students from last year. Preschool is full at 60 students, an increase of about 15 students from last year.

Wadena-Deer Creek

1,107 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, a decrease of about 22 students from last fall.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley

918 students in kindergarten through 12th-grade, an increase of 24 students from last year.
