The following Central Lakes College students were announced as winners of $50 scholarships from the CLC Foundation during Student Welcome Days last week:
From the Staples campus: Cheryl Adams, Isanti; and Amanda Larson, Pequot Lakes.
From the Brainerd campus: David Eigenheer, Brainerd; James Larson, Walnut Grove; Elaine Wold, Staples; and Matthew Buckley, Redwood Falls.
More than 2,000 students at CLC enjoyed the inaugural Student Welcome Day on the Brainerd and Staples campuses during the second week of the fall term. Students received a free lunch, chances to win scholarships and bookstore prizes, and information on clubs and support services at CLC.
In Brainerd, the Student Senate sponsored an ice cream social, and staff volunteers arranged a treasure hunt, softball game and dance. Also, more than 3,000 phone calls were made to students with offers to answer questions and help with any problems related to college.
In Staples, after a free lunch provided by the Staples Community Foundation, staff and students enjoyed ice cream courtesy of the Staples Dairy Queen. The day also included a scavenger hunt, a staff vs. students softball game, and a dance hosted by instructors-deejays Leon Dahlvang and Corey Robinson.
