Brainerd roars past Rocori

Siri Smith won two individual events and was on a winning relay as the unbeaten Brainerd Warriors sank Rocori 110-71 in a Central Lakes Conference meet Thursday night.

Smith won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and was on the first-place 200 medley relay with Mariah Moen, Alex Erickson and Aylah Pagel.

Additional Brainerd winners were Alyssa Hartshorn in the 200 free, Reilly Peterson in the 200 individual medley, Erickson in the 50 free, Madison Grausam in diving and Fallon Ryan in the 500 free.

"Siri being a double winner was nice," Warriors coach Dan Anderson said. "The butterfly is not her normal event.

"For Madison Grausam that was her first-ever win in diving. To score 188 is a pretty nice score. Reilly Peterson, in the 200 IM, that was her first varsity win ever as well.

"Alex Erickson had a nice meet, winning the 50, and finishing second in the 100."

Arianna Pelkey and Pagel were runners-up in two events apiece for Brainerd.

"That's what kind of team we have, a lot of good swimmers," Anderson said. "It seems like it's somebody new every week."

The Warriors have a week off before traveling to Sartell to face the defending Class 1A state champion Sabres.

"We've got our work cut out for us," Anderson said.
