DEERWOOD - David Jeremiason and Rev. Andy Kennaly will tell the story of the John Savage summer estate on nearby Clearwater Lake that became a Presbyterian Church camp. in the Unlimited Learning session rom 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heartwood Senior Living Community in Crosby.
Oon Thursday, participants may join the Clearwater field trip, visiting Clearwater Forest and touring Eagle Lodge as well as the surrounding property. Those going on the field trip will gather at 1 p.m. at Hallett Community Center in Crosby and carpool to Clearwater Forest.
Nestled along 3.5 miles of shoreline and encompassing over 1,000 acres of pristine forest, the forest is a unique treasure and one of the best kept secrets in the area. It is home to an astonishing variety of plant and wildlife species. Three stone homes rest on the property, with the cornerstone being Eagle Lodge, a nine-bedroom mansion overlooking the lake. Since its beginning in 1954, the forest has hosted 10s of thousands of guests who come for the many programs offered by the camp.
