All the complaints about the government's response in New Orleans make me sick. The people won't eat the MRE's that our troops eat and gripe about not having hot meals, The entitlement programs that take care of people from cradle to grave do the worst thing to people. That is it robs them of the ability to make wise personal decisions.
Why would they withhold a 53-year-old Backus man's name from the paper? He deserves to be very embarrassed and humiliated about having all of those marijuana plants and providing that kind of stuff to all of our area. I think his name needs to go in there and we need to make a really big deal out of this.
(In most cases, names are withheld until suspects are arraigned.)
Why is it when I purchase a Brained Dispatch, then scan the front page for the most important headlines of the day, I see that I can get "all you can eat crab" at an area restaurant. The Dispatch has sunk to a new low pasting advertisement over the front page headline. No other newspapers do it and it doesn't look very professional.
Pit bulls bite and pit bulls kill. What part of this don't we understand? Get rid of Pit Bulls and you won't have to worry about being sued because, even if they act nice now, you never can trust them. They are very dangerous animals and we are sick and tired of being prisoners in our houses because of pit bulls, bears, tigers, lions, giant snakes or whatever people think are pets. They are killers and hopefully we are finding that out. Let's outlaw them.
We just received another request for money from GALA. A review of the officers and contributors makes us think it should be renamed GALAR (Gull Area Lakes Association of Realtors). They once sent a newsletter out discussing the "Gull Lake Wave," i.e. how friendly people on the lake are.
Many of us are more interested in topics such as the health of the lakes, wildlife on and near the lakes, density of docks and boats, and safety and noise issues created by large loud boats.
We recommend that people consider joining the Minnesota Lakes Association 1-800-515-5253, whose mission it is to "promote citizen stewardship of Minnesota's waters and to influence and support public policy for water resource management."
Where was Dispatch?
On Saturday, Sept. 3, I had the pleasure to ride in the Rally Up-North which raised funds for Camp Confidence. Seeing roughly 400 bikes riding in one group was an awesome sight and I find it insulting that the Dispatch has not had one article or photo about the ride. The organizers and sponsors did a tremendous job and put in an incredible amount of time to make this a success. The rally raises a lot of money that is given to a local charity and not a word from the Dispatch. What is up with that?
