Community hymn sing
The community is invited to participate in a hymn sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Eighth and Oak in Brainerd. Come early for organ and piano prelude. Stay for fellowship and refreshments.
Fall kick-off at Lord of Life
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter will have its fall kick-off event Sunday with worship services at 8 and 11 a.m. and an opportunity between services for children and adults to register and receive orientation for all fall learning, support and mission opportunities. There will be a chance to meet teachers, play children's games and eat a brunch served by the high school youth.
The normal Sunday schedule will begin Sept. 19 with worship at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m., adult education at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m., children's education at 9:30 a.m. and KID'S Church at 11:15 a.m. Nursery care is provided throughout the morning.
For those unable to worship Sundays, an additional kick-off event will be offered Wednesday, which will include the start of the weekly 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. supper, worship at 6 p.m. and children, youth and adult learning opportunities. Nursery care is provided throughout the evening.
The Diocese of Duluth and the Brainerd Area Catholic Churches are hosting a presentation titled "Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility" 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at St. Francis Church in Brainerd. John Carr, director of the Department of Social Development and World Peace of the USCCB, will give the presentation. His presentation will address those issues that Catholics must consider when making political decisions. This presentation is open to the public.
Allen Family Bells
The Allen Family Bells from Orlando will be guest musicians at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. worship services Sept. 19. David Allen, one of the nation's leading innovators in solo handbell ringing, will perform several selections on three octaves of handbells. His wife, Cheryl, provides vocal solos and piano accompaniment for the selections.
Lutheran Church of the Cross is south of Nisswa at 5064 County Road 13 (east of Sportland Corners).

Loyalty Sunday picnic
Join Christ Community Church in Nisswa for food, fellowship and fun at the Loyalty Sunday picnic following the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services. The picnic will start approximately 11:45 a.m.
There will be a picnic lunch outside (weather permitting) and games like sack races, tug of war, water balloon toss and egg toss.
Immanuel Lutheran in Hillman to break ground
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hillman, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, will break ground five miles north and one mile west from its present location at 11 a.m. Sunday. The new location will be more visible to the community. The new church will provide more space for worship, fellowship, education and other ministries and will be handicapped-accessible. There will be a celebration luncheon at the Club of the Pines after the groundbreaking.
Lincoln Community Church
The annual worship service of Lincoln Community Church, County Road 7, Lincoln, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Jim Brown, associate pastor of the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church, as guest speaker.
Rally day set at
Rally day at Zion Lutheran Church, 220 N. Eighth St., will be on the weekend services. All teachers will be installed at all services. Parents of 3-year-olds through eighth-grade students should meet in the fellowship hall at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school and Bible classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. Call the church office at 829-4317 for more information.
