AITKIN -- Oscar R. "Sheeney" Pederson, age 94, of Aitkin, died on Sept. 8, 2004, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born on Dec. 5, 1909, in Spencer Township to Elias and Emma (Johnson) Pederson. He married Marjorie G. Shannon on Sept. 9, 1937. He was a retired M.A. Hanna Mining employee with 45 years of service. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby, Royal Neighbors of America, Deerwood Rifle Club, former Ironton City Council member, VIP at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Geraldine and Wayne "Tez" Altonen, Ironton, and Virginia Larson, of Aitkin; sister-in-law, Sigrid Pederson, of Bremerton, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, in 1995; grandson, Matthew Larson; three brothers, Walter, Hilding and Olaf Pederson; two sisters, Ellen Curtis and an infant.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby. Visitation will be Sunday at Koop Funeral Home, Crosby, from 4-8 p.m. and an hour prior to services at the church Monday. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery, Crosby.
