GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota senior Brittany Brenny of Staples repeated as champion in UND's Ron Pynn Classic at the Ray Richards Golf Course last weekend.
Brenny completed the 5-kilometer race in 18:10.07, 33 seconds faster than the runner-up.
The meet was run as a double dual with three teams running at once but being scored against each other as separate dual races. UND fell to South Dakota State 33-24 score and to North Florida 31-25.
UND returns to action Sept. 19 in the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational at Lincoln, Neb.
Conference honors Barnaby, two Flyers
Brainerd's Kellie Barnaby and Kaitlin Boerner and Alayna Kabanuk have been named Central Lakes Conference performers of the week ending Sept. 5.
Barnaby, a senior midfielder, had two assists and an unassisted goal in a win against Alexandria.
In swimming, Boerner swam her best time in the 100 breaststroke and her IM time was better than her section time last year.
In two volleyball matches, Kabanuk had 21 kills and made 19 of 25 serves with two aces.
JV boys' soccer wins
Brainerd defeated Sauk Rapids 5-0 in junior varsity boys' soccer Tuesday.
Brainerd keepers Matt Benson in the first half and Thor Linnerooth in the second each stopped one shot.
Daniel Hammer scored for Brainerd in the first half, assisted by Evan Werthman.
Ben Anderholm scored in the 60th minute, assisted by Andrew Olson. Anderholm scored again in the 64th minute, assisted by Brayden Campbell.
Werthman tallied in the 75th minute. Joshua Murrey scored in the 76th minute, assisted by Austin Polcaro.
JV girls beat Sauk Rapids-Rice
Brainerd defeated Sauk Rapids-Rice 3-1 in junior varsity girls' soccer Tuesday.
Molly Palm scored two goals and Mikaela Boyd one for the Warriors. Keeper Brooke Nelson had seven saves.
Last week Brainerd edged Alexandria 1-0 as Hannah Hennen scored the lone goal and Nelson had 14 saves.
In its second game of the season Brainerd lost to Buffalo 9-1.
In its opener Brainerd was defeated by Stillwater 6-0. Nelson had six saves.
