Gamon-Deering leads Flyer girls to first in Wadena-Deer Creek Invite

WADENA - Manon Gammon-Deering paced the girls' race with a time of 15:49.14 as the Little Falls girls' cross country team took second place in the Wadena-Deer Creek Invite Tuesday.

Chelsea Rutz, Maria Hauer and Mattia Hendrickson finished 10th, 11th and 12th for the Flyer girls.

The Flyer boys' team took third place as Preston Zimny finished second with a time of 17:24.13 while Ricky Devine ended up in fourth.

The Staples-Motley girls finished third as Emma Pogreba and Kaytlin Roth finished third and fourth with times of 16:04.43 and 16:16.80. Katie Stone rounded out top 10 finishers for the Cardinals with a seventh-place finish.

Gunner Johnson captured third place with a time of 17:26.16 on the boys' side for the Cardinals as S-M took second place. Isaac Fuhrman finished ninth and Josh Freese was 10th.

Hannah Toedter led Wadena-Deer Creek to a fourth-place finish as she took eighth while the boys' team finished sixth as Neil Janson recorded an 18th-place finish.

Shauna Maurer ended up in 16th place as the top finisher for the Pillager girls and Trevor Rohloff was 35th for the boys.

Hoheisel, Theis lead Pierz girls to top finish

PLYMOUTH - Mariah Hoheisel picked up a fourth-place finish in 16:38 to lead the Pierz girls' cross country team to their second first-place finish in as many races in the Rockford Invite at Hollydale Golf Course Tuesday.

Sonya Theis finished just behind Hoheisel in fifth with a time of 16:43 while Tracy Wimmer finished eighth and Megan Hoheisel was 10th.

The Pierz boys took sixth in a 12-team field and were led by Jake Poster's 20th place time.
