Agnes R. Bisted
Agnes R. Bisted, 92, Brainerd, passed away on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Agnes was born on Oct. 18, 1916, in East Gull Lake to James and Dottie (Barker) Bell, one of eight children. She lived her entire life in the Brainerd area. She worked as a mother's helper before her marriage.
She married Louis Bisted on May 28, 1934. They were married 55 years before his death in 1989. She was very active in the Krech Missionary Circle for many years. She was a farm wife in every sense of the word; she lived on the same farm for 66 years before her health caused her to enter the nursing home.
She was well known for her baking and quilting. She always had a meal or snack to share with anyone who came to her door, even salesmen. No one left hungry if she could help it. She had a very giving soul.
She is survived by her sons, Morris, Denver, Gerald (Amanda), Brainerd, Timothy (Cornell), Cascade, Mont.; her daughter, Bertha (Carlton) Lindsey, Brainerd; her sisters, Geraldine Tusler, Duluth, Cassie Melton, Yuma, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Morris Jr., Todd, Benjamin, Dottie, Anna and Leah Bisted, Paul and Rebecca Lindsey, Alfred, Thomas, George and Robert Blixt; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brendan, Casey, Emily, Nathan, Justin, Griffin, Lily, Damian, Kylie and Tate; one great-great-grandchild, Zoey; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis; her daughter, Barbara Blixt; her daughter-in-law, Rosie; grandson, James Blixt; her brothers, George, William, Gerald; sisters, Mae Whirley and Hazel Laitila.
Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Brainerd with Pastor Bob Evans officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at Bethany on Thursday.
