Launches are taken out daily in the summer. On a typical launch late last month, anglers made their way to the boat harbor, leaving the marina at about 8 p.m. on a quest for walleyes. With the sun setting and the Twins game playing on the radio in the background, the boat traveled to the chosen site and everyone settled into their fishing.
The sun set on Lake Mille Lacs, leaving the anglers to the nearly moonless night. A generator on the boat provided just enough light for the anglers. Brainerd Dispatch/Kelly Humphrey » Purchase reprints of this photo.
Guide Rick Goodholm and assistant Jim Billick watched over the anglers, giving advice, untangling lines, netting fish, etc., until the wee hours.
