The yellow school buses lumbering through the Brainerd lakes area this week were a dead giveaway that school is back is session. Here's a look at student enrollment figures reported by area school districts this week:
Aitkin
Enrollment: 1,314 students, an increase of about five students from last year.
Crosby-Ironton
Enrollment: 1,248 students, a decrease of about eight students from last year.
Crosslake Community School
Enrollment: 113 students in kindergarten through eighth-grade, about the same as last year.
Emily Charter School
Enrollment: 75 students in preschool through sixth grade, about the same as last year.
Family of Christ Lutheran School
Enrollment: 96 students in preschool through sixth grade, a decrease of about 20 students from last year.
Lake Region Christian School
Enrollment: 151 students in preschool through 12th grade, about the same as last year.
Little Falls
Enrollment: 2,545 students, a decrease of about 215 students from last year.
Oak Street Christian School
Enrollment figures were not available.
Pequot Lakes
Enrollment: 1,545 students in preschool through 12th grade, an increase of about 35 students from last year.
Pierz
Enrollment: 1,033 students, a decrease of about 20 students from last year.
Pillager Area Charter School
Enrollment: 38 students, a decrease of four students from last year.

Enrollment: 795 students, an increase of 55 students, or a 7.5 percent increase, from last spring.
Pine River-Backus
Enrollment: 981 students, a decrease of 45 students from last year.
Staples-Motley
Enrollment: 1,366 students, an increase of 25 students from last year.
St. Francis of the Lakes

Enrollment: 1,129 students, a decrease of 30 students from last spring.

Enrollment: 970 students, a slight decrease from last year.
