NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Brainerd High School graduate Turena Johnson Lane won the women's division of the New Alliance New Haven 20-kilometer Road Race on Labor Day.
Lane's time of 1:08.46 was also 43rd overall.
Herath to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warriors cross country running coach Dave Herath will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
Soccer player Jennifer Beilke, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
Ducks Unlimited banquet Thursday
The North Crow Wing Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is hosting its annual membership banquet Thursday at Breezy Point Resort.
Social hour begins at 6 p.m. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. Cost is $50 for singles and $75 for couples. Students under 18 get meal and membership for $30.

Deer permit lottery deadline Thursday
The application deadline for Minnesota either-sex deer hunting permits is Thursday.
Hunters who want to obtain an either-sex permit in a lottery area need to purchase their license and apply before the deadline.
Maps that show the locations of lottery, managed and intensive permit areas can be found on the pullout map in the 2004 Minnesota Hunting Regulations Handbook.
Four area teams in field
The foursome of Harley Exstad, Harvey Exstad of Fiddlestix Golf Course and Jim Olson and J. Searles of Izaty's Resort shot a 127 for fifth after the first round of the 12th MGA Net Team Championship Tuesday at Grand View Lodge's Preserve Golf Course.
In seventh place with a 128 is the team from the Vintage at Staples (Steve Benson, Bruce Lund, Joe Hasselberg and Mark Forsberg).
The team of Fred Boos, Mike Bohnenstingl and Mark Ronnei of the Pines at Grand View Lodge and Dean Belbas of Interlachen Country Club is in 11th place with 130.
In 24th place is Kent Kyllo, John Simenson, Bill Erickson and Barb Erickson of Izaty's Resort.
A field of 43 teams entered the event. Wednesday's final round will be held at the Pines.
Warrior JV soccer wins
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity girls' soccer team beat Sauk Rapids 14-0 Tuesday.
Kelli Rosenthal had three goals and two assists. Aimee Tagtmeier had four goals and one assist. Megan Zillmar had four goals. Kate Olson, Shelby Ludwig and Nicole Millete each had one goal. Lucy Sweeny, Sam Smith, Ali Jones, Emily Brink and Paige Northway each had an assist.
Betsy Van Der Hagen stopped the only shot by Sauk Rapids.
Brainerd is 3-0.
Brainerd JV tennis loses
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity tennis team fell to Rocori Tuesday 5-3.
Winning for Brainerd was singles player Sonja Hills 6-4, 6-3, the doubles team of Catherine Luckemeyer-Erin Mustonen 6-0, 6-2 and the doubles team of Soraja Hills-Claire Northway 6-3, 6-2.
