Royals 3, Angels 0
Paul Abbott and Jeremy Affeldt teamed on a five-hitter and Kansas City won at Anaheim.
Aaron Guiel and rookie Ken Harvey homered as the Royals stayed three games behind in the AL Central.
Guiel, who hit his first career leadoff homer last week against Arizona's Randy Johnson, opened this game with a shot off John Lackey.
Devil Rays 11, A's 2
The Oakland Athletics got zero from Barry Zito.
Victor Zambrano pitched the first complete game of his career while the Tampa Bay Devil Rays once again tagged the reigning AL Cy Young winner, beating the A's 11-2 Sunday.
Despite the defeat at Tropicana Field, the Athletics stayed two games ahead of Seattle in the AL West. Seattle lost to Baltimore and remained 1 1/2 games behind Boston in the wild-card race.
Yankees 3, Red Sox 1
David Wells pitched shutout ball into the eighth inning and New York, spurred by the return of Derek Jeter, beat Boston before a sellout crowd at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees increased their AL East lead to 2 1/2 games over the Red Sox in their final regular-season meeting. New York went 10-9 against Boston this year.
