A 19-year-old Pillager man died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday, the Cass County Sheriff's Department said.
Nathan A. Ackerson, 19, Pillager, died in the accident that occurred shortly after noon Saturday at 57th Avenue and 124th Street in May Township.
Ackerson's passenger, John C. Shamp, 20, was injured and airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital where he was listed today in fair condition.
The driver of the second vehicle, Anthony E. Badger, 18, was not seriously injured.
Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said the crash, which included a car fire, remains under investigation.
A 33-year-old Pine River man died after he was thrown from his vehicle and run over by another vehicle, the State Patrol said.
The accident was reported at 2:40 a.m. Saturday on Highway 371, two miles south of Pine River, the State Patrol reported.
Scott Walter Lemieux, 33, Pine River, was northbound on Highway 371 at a high rate of speed when his 1986 Ford Bronco left the highway and hit a couple of trees, then rolled over and ejected Lemieux onto the highway, according to the State Patrol.
He had not been wearing a seat belt.
Lemieux was then struck by a 2001 Kia Sportage driven by Todd William Dickey, 32, Big Lake. Dickey was not reported injured. He had been wearing a seat belt.
Lemieux suffered multiple injuries and later died at St. Cloud Hospital.
