Eleanor Janey

LITTLE FALLS -- Eleanor Janey, 82, Little Falls, and formerly of Lastrup, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at St. Otto's Nursing Home of Little Falls.

She was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Florence, S.D., to Walter and Stella (Crandall) Gusso. She graduated from Florence Schools. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis and worked as a photographer. She married Martin Janey on April 22, 1944, in Minneapolis. In 1952 they moved to Little Falls. Two years later, they moved to Lastrup and began farming. She worked at Larson Boats for 20 years. Two years after her husband's death, she moved back to Little Falls.

Survivors include three sons, Michael, Spooner, Wis., Steve, St. Cloud, and Daryl, Bemidji; a daughter, Marlene Virnig, Little Falls; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Gusso, Watertown, S.D.; and a sister, Retha Halse, Portland, Ore.

Her husband, a son, David, and a brother, Walter Gusso Jr., died earlier.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Parish Cemetery of Lastrup.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Brenny-Simonet Funeral Home-East Chapel of Little Falls, with parish prayers at 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
