New pastor at Pillager church

PILLAGER -- Frank Davis has accepted the pastorette at Pillager Assemby of God. He and his wife, Jackie, and their children, Ben and Amanda, are from Elbow Lake. Welcoming will be Sept. 17.

Payne to speak

Gary Payne will be speaking about Cuba at the Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the Pequot Lakes Town Hall. He is an instructor at Central Lakes College.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church

St. Paul's Episcopal Church will be celebrating the beginning of their Christian Education Programs following summer vacation on at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with pre-kindergarden thru adult Christian education. Sunday will also be made special by the blessing of the new acolyte robes which are given in memory of the late parishoner, Gladie Otness.

St. Blaines' Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in one of St. Andrew's classrooms; St. Isidore's Guild will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Chopper's Bar & Grill; St. Joseph's Guild will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sawmill Inn; St. Michael's Guild will meet at noon Thursday at Ember's; and St. Patrick's Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Lois Johnson.

Daughters of Isabella No. 562

The Daughters of Isabella No. 562 will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Francis hall for rosary and a regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. Hostesses are Lillian Benick and Agnes Sura.

Shepherd of the Lake rally day

Rally day will be at 8:45 a.m. Sunday at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church of Garrison. The Sunday school theme for this year is Our Life in Christ. Dorothy Mickelson and Rose Milhalko are in charge of this year's activities. Adults will meet at the same time for Bible study called Winning Friends for Christ. That class will be taught by the Rev. Curtis Foreman.

Harvest supper

Cascade United Methodist Church of Deerwood will have its annual Harvest Supper from 5-7 p.m. Saturday. Cost for adults is $6, children ages 6-10 are $2.50 and children 5 and under are free. Handmade rag rugs and Cascade cookbooks will also be for sale.

Rally day for First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd invites children of members and non-members to rally day on Sunday. This fall kicks off with new Sunday school curriculums for all ages groups and the addition of two worship service alternative opportunities. The contemporary service will be at 8:15 a.m., children, youth and adult classes will be 9:30 a.m., a traditional service will be 10:45-11:45 a.m. and a rally day all-church picnic will be 12:30 p.m. at Lum Park. Double kickoff at Park United

Sunday will be the kick off day at Park United Methodist Church. Worship services will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by a social time; 10:45-11:15 a.m. will be registration for Christian Education and then there will be a new second service featuring Tim Collins and the Christian Education classes will begin at 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

Women's meetings at Park United

United Methodist Women Executive Board will meet at 10 a.m. Monday; Priscilla Circle will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Jeannet Goodwin as hostess and Marsha Larson in charge of the program; Cana Women will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday; Martha Circle will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19; and Naomi Circle will meet at noon Sept. 20. All meetings are at the church.

Wednesday activities at Park United

Bible study will be at 11 a.m.; supper will be served at 5:15 p.m. with a freewill offering followed by handbell choir practice at 6 p.m. and Chancel choir practice at 7 p.m. Youth will also meet on Wednesdays as follows: GUMY's will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 20; 6-12 graders will leave the church for the Bay Rally at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; Confirmation students will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Sept. 20; JUMY's will meet for devotional study at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and 27; and 9-12 graders will meet for Bible study at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

Lincoln Community Church

LINCOLN -- The Lincoln Community Church will worship at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Tim Iverson, missionary from Taipei, Taiwan, will be the guest speaker.
