Evening MOPS to meet

NISSWA - AWANA, a children's ministry, will begin Wednesday at Christ Community Church in Nisswa for children ages 3 through sixth grade.
AWANA meets from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays during the school year with a family supper at 5:30 p.m.

First Congregational United Church of Christ will celebrate Welcome Sunday with worship at 10 a.m. and church school and adult forum at 11 a.m. Sunday.
NE District United Methodist Women to meet
MORA - The Mora United Methodist Church will host the fall annual gathering of the United Methodist Women on Sept. 15.
The third year of the theme, "Vessels of Mission," will center around education and interpretation.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with muffins for Emma and book browsing in the Resource Room. Members will gather at 9:15 a.m. for a hymn sing followed by the business meeting.
Guest speaker will be Connie Skillingstad of the Spencer Bro. U.M.C. will be speaking on the subject of child abuse. Other events include recognition of retiring officers, skits, Mission Moment, offering for Mission Giving, honoring the UMW member of the year, memorial service for deceased members of the year plus the installation of 2008 NE District officers.

Kingdom Singles to meet
Kingdom Singles will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wings Restaurant at the airport followed by hiking at the French Rapids trails at 10 a.m.
Rally Sunday at Trinity Lutheran
The 16th annual clown service will be featured on Rally Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd on Sunday. The singing and acting group will perform at both the 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. It also marks the beginning of the Sunday school year with classes starting at 9:30 a.m.
As part of the Sunday celebration, there will be an ice cream and pie social between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. This is sponsored by the Health Ministry Team to raise funds for their various projects.

Park UMC activities planned
As part of the September open house activities, Park UMC will hold an information fair on Sunday. Displays will be set up in the fellowship hall.
Sunday school will start Sunday at Park UMC with a gathering in the sanctuary for music, announcements, offering and "The Bag" with Pastor Rory. This is for all ages and adults not attending a class of 11:15 a.m. worship can go to the social hall to discuss Sunday school, gather ideas and have a time to visit. There are classes for two-year-olds through adults. Kingergarten through sixth grade will again be using the rotation model and the September unit will be on prayer (The Garden of Gethsemane).
Abigail Ozanne will speak at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Park UMC. Ozanne is workign with a Christian Peacemaker Team. She has worked off and on for the last year in Palestine, accompanying school children, monitoring checkpoints, documenting human rights abuses and nonviolent intervention to reduce violence.
"Living Fully and Dying Well," a new small group, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Wilma Roberts leading the eight sessions which will continue to meet for the following seven Mondays at 10 a.m. at Park UMC. Call the church if interested so books can be ordered. Topics include Living Fully, Theology of Aging, Our Culture of Aging, Finding Purpose and Meaning, Getting it all Together, Dying Well, What Happens When We Die and How Then Shall We Live.
Bethlehem Lutheran Rally Sunday
The Bethlehem Lutheran fall church season kicks off with a rally on Sunday. New Sunday services times are 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday school is available for all ages beginning at 9:40 a.m. Senior high youth group and sixth through ninth grade catechism classes are 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday night.

Rally Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 408 N. 7th St., Brainerd, will have Rally Sunday with adult education at 9 a.m., worship and pre-kindergarten through elementary Sunday school at 10 a.m. and Journey to Adulthood for middle schoolers at 11 a.m. Sunday. A parish potluck will be at 11:30 a.m.
Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association
The Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association will be starting a new year at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. The meeting is open to all area pastors, priests, chaplains and ministers. The Ministerial Association seeks to provide an opportunity for networking, ministry support and training as well as serving as a representative body of the many churches and ministries that serve our community.
The meeting will include a light lunch and a presentation by Bridges of Hope. There may be a small fee or offering received to cover the lunch costs.
