VAN NUYS, Calif. -- Selma Bertha "Sammy" Homme, 91, Van Nuys, Calif., died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born March 14, 1911, in Renville to Henry and Elsie (Buetow) Mortensen. She married Harold Homme in Granite Falls in 1936 and moved to Aitkin in 1946 after World War II. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Granite Falls before moving to Aitkin, where she worked at Ella's Beauty Shop until 1959. She then owned and operated Sammy's Beauty Shop in Aitkin until 1976 when she retired to Van Nuys, Calif.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard, Sylmar, Calif., and Stanley, Pahrump, Nev.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband; her brother, George; a grandson and a great-granddaughter died earlier.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Lake View Cemetery in Aitkin.
Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
