Tickets are now on sale for Central Lakes College Theatre Department's "Geritol Frolics." This fall's production is "New York, New York," a comical musical revue which features 40 "tunes to tickle your funny bone" from the musical comedy stage.
Musical numbers include well known hits such as "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Anything You Can Do" and "There Is Nothing Like A Dame." Lesser known comedy songs are "Butter," the dieter's special, an ode to high fashion called "Don't Call Me Trailer Trash," and the single girl's lament, "Find Me A Primitive Man."
"The Geritol Frolics" is the theater department's senior theater program for performers over the age of 50. Since 1987 the Frolics have performed as part of the college's production program as well as touring throughout the state and to Washington, D.C., Las Vegas and Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Fla.
The fall 2000 cast includes the following singers and musicians: Jerry Wahlstrom, Gotfred Olsen, Paul Fuller, Ed Yunker, Bob Berstrom, Paul Vrudny, Ardyce Quinn, Gerry Nyberg, Joanne Pettit, Joan Witham, Darlene Mark, Nanci Paulson, June Doyle, Myra Vrudny, June Boyer, Betty Lucken, Ilona Benson, Gloria Olson, Vivian Smithburg, Bill Smithburg, Jim Mark and Hugh Philips.
This year's danceline features 14 high kickers under the direction of Pat Rinde. The Frolics danceline includes: Kathy Larson, Gloria Johnson, Betty Alderman, Barb Scott, Sharron Ryappy, Barbara Kirby, Teddy Skattum, Marion Town, Sharon Pearson, Yvonne Hill, Leanne Gendron, Gloria Hobbs, Jean Prahm and Marilyn Olsen.
Dennis Lamberson directs the production and Steve Anderson is once again the musical director.
"New York, New York" plays in The John Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus Sept. 27, 28, 29, Oct. 4, 5 and 6 at 3 p.m. Evening performances are Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $12 and may be reserved by phoning the box office at (218) 855-8199 or 800-933-0346, ext. 8199, Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
